Port Forwarding Guide

Required for WOL from outside your local network (mobile data, different WiFi, etc.)

Same WiFi only?
If you only use WOL from the same WiFi network, the native app (Android/iOS) works without port forwarding. This guide is only needed for remote WOL over the internet.

Before You Start

1. Find Your PC's Local IP

Windows: Open Command Prompt and type ipconfig → find IPv4 Address (e.g. 192.168.1.100)

Mac: System Settings → Network → find IP Address

2. Find Your Public IP

Visit ifconfig.me in your browser.

Your public IP may change. Most home internet uses a dynamic IP. If it changes, update the IP in UTA WOL device settings.

Can't find port forwarding? Search "[your router model] port forwarding" on Google for specific instructions.

Verify

  1. Enter your public IP and MAC address in UTA WOL device settings
  2. Switch your phone to mobile data (turn off WiFi)
  3. Press the WOL power button
  4. If your PC wakes up, it's working!

Troubleshooting

  1. Protocol must be UDP (not TCP)
  2. Check your PC's local IP hasn't changed (ipconfig / ifconfig)
  3. Check your public IP hasn't changed (ifconfig.me)
  4. Enable Wake on LAN in BIOS/UEFI
  5. Disable Fast Startup in Windows power settings
  6. Enable "Wake on Magic Packet" in Device Manager → Network Adapter → Properties → Power Management
